OMERGA YOUTH REPORT

Marathwada is one of the backward region situated in the central part of
Maharaashtra,India.Osmanabad falls in Marathwada which is connected to districts such as
Solapur,Latur and Beed.In the reigns of ‘Satvahanas ‘(the great rulers of central India) the town
named ‘Tager’ was famous for Gold Market.At the same time this place was popular for propagating
Buddha Dhamma.The remains of the city and temple of Bodhisatva Trivikram are still in a good
condition. Today this place is known as ‘Taer’.In the same city of Osmanabad ‘Kasbe Tadvale’ is place
where ‘Mahar - Mang Watan Council’ was held on 22nd Feb 1941 led by Babasaheb Dr.Ambedkar.
Endowed by such a historic background, village named ‘Umerga’ witnessed the first in this region “NNBY YOUTH SUMMER CAMP-2011” at Bahujan Hitay Student Hostel.This regional gathering
which lasted for 4 days from 1st May -4th May and benefitted by 25 young participants.Youth retreat was prominently focussed on how today’s youth can find answer to their questions by
understanding Babasaheb Dr.Ambedkar’s vision and Buddha’s idea of Thoughtful Action.
Retreat began on 1st of May which was led by Dh.Amitayus and innaugurated by Dh.Dnyanjit , in which they spoke on progressive movement of Mahatma Phule,Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj and
Babasaheb Dr.Ambedkar .And commented remarkably on the work of NNBY in rural parts of India and expressed gratitude.
Second day started with the practice of Chinese Martial Art ‘Chi-Qung’ and immediately thereafter Dh.Amitayus led the practice of Anapana-Sati which young participant practiced diligently. In the next session he put forth the ideas of Babasaheb Dr.Ambedkar towards contemprory youth and social problems in the talk. Where young student presented their thoughts in the group discussion
held on the talk. Then in the afternoon session Arhant (Pune) took the workshop on Career Guidance and English Speaking, in which he gave the important tips on improving English Language .Workshop was informative and guidelines were provided on current employment oriented courses available in the market and how to qualify the exams related to such courses.
In the evening session documentary was played on the ethical history of Indian social movement,
immediately after participants put forth their views.
Afternoon of the third day marked by workshop on NVC (Non-violence Communication) lead by Pranit from Nagpur. Where he emphasized on importance of listening and taught how easily one can
communicate.
In the last session of the evening and which also came to be the last session of retreat, where NNBY presentation was made about its history, recent activities and future programming of the organisation. This was succeeded by cultural activity where all participated in singing songs and also presented song in gratitude to the Babasaheb Dr.Ambedkar.
Retreat was concluded by Vikram of organising team, expressed his gratitude by offering flowers to the contributors.Charming end came to the retreat by rhythmic chanting of three precepts and all joined together to say ‘Namo tassa bhagwato arhato samma sambhudassa’.
National Network of Buddhist Youth
Report of Dr.Ambedkar and Mahatma Phule’s Jayanti
On the occasion of 120th & 184th Birth Anniversary of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and Mahatma Phule, National Network of Buddhist Youth has organized the program at Rennaisance College, Nagpur on 14th April, 2011. The team of Nagpur NNBY organized the program, in which apart from the local team of nnby , the general youth also attended it. The program was graced by Adv. Nina Tembhurne,Dh. Ratnasiddhi & Lect. Ajay Choudhary.
In the beginning of the program all of us observe two minutes silence and paid condolence to the brother and sister of Japan due to the natural calamity.
Adv.Nina addressed the audience on the role of students through the perspective vision & great ideology of Dr.Ambedkar. She also told about the modernized attitude of todays youth and lack of awareness regarding the social movement in 21st Century. However, through the life and mission of Dr.Ambedkar and the great struggle for the greater cause of society, youth can learn lot many things and get motivated and inspired by him. She also gave an example of the teaching of Lord Buddha and Sighalwad Sutra, which is based on scientific attitude and very much useful for one’s daily life.
Dh.Ratnasiddhi delivered his talk on the social, educational and cultural movement of Dr.Ambedkar. He quotes the various events of Dr.Ambedkars life, which have its very importance in today’s life. He addressed the issues like why conversions, mahad satyagrah, student’s movement, pay back to the society and other issues, which are very much important in youth’s movement.
Lecturer Ajay Choudhary talked on the connection and relevance of the Social Revolutionary Movement start by Mahatma Phule and Dr.Ambedkar. The great sacrifice done by the Revolutionary Savitri Bai Phule and women’s empowerment through the importance of education. The role of Mahatma phule and its dynamics is very much useful in todays society. He quoted the various examples of both the revolutionary people based on the contemporary topics. He appealed to the youths that they have lot much potential in them and can do and achieve if they imbibe these personalities quality.
From the members of NNBY like Sanjeev, Sukeshni, Shubhangi,& Kirti also expressed their views on the occasion. Mr.Pranit did the comparing of the program and Miss Aarti gave the vote of thanks of the program. Mr. Chetan gave the brief introduction of NNBY and also put the various future planning of NNBY before the youths.
